Gert Muurling (1969) has always had a keen interest in new developments in 2- and 3D design and the infinite possibilities of creating and visualizing using 3D software. In 2008 Gert decided to specialize in design and started is own designstudio Cracklewax. Cracklewax supports professionals like event/tv producers, directors by designing, developing and visualizing their creative views.
Ever since a long stay in Australia in 1997 Gert has enjoyed photography. To him it was a small step from visualizing in 3D to starting his study Photographic Design in 2008. "Also when taking shots in a 3D space I have to consider composition, lighting, color &c," Gert explains. "Studying photography helps me develop both my technical and creative side." Not only does photography help Gert to improve professionally, but also his interest in the visual arts in general has opened up a whole new world of inspiration to him. Gert says: "I knew it was a good step taking up a study of photography, but I never thought it would bring me so much more."
At the moment Gert is aiming to capture his view of the real world instead of creating a 3D-world. His pictures often show ordinary parts of day to day life, in an unordinary way. In his search for his personal theme Gert still keeps an open view. "I feel I'm drawn to photo-journalism, but I think it's wise to try as much as possible, to learn from each photographic discipline before I commit to something. So far I'm enjoying the learning process."
